Everyone likes a good comedy movie……Except me!

It seems that every year more and more new Comedy movies have been coming out and squalled, such as the Hangover, Grown Ups, and Jackass: Bad Grandpa. These movies are also very popular among my peers and other people of various ages. Apparently, most people find these movies extremely entertaining. Myself on the other hand, wouldn’t want to waste another two hours of my time watching a movie that lacks a really engaging story, and might make me chuckle a couple times. I don’t see why Comedy movies are so popular right now, but I’ll stick to my action movies.

Money

I don’t care how much it costs. I don’t care about how much I have… or don’t have, and I could surely care less about how much the next person has. I think that great experiences are invaluable, and I believe that money is the root of evil. It creates an endless pursuit that has left too many unhappy. I believe that happiness is the most important thing, and that’s what we should all be striving for. Whatever happiness means to you, pursue it, because you only get one life. I always liked Star Trek’s stance on the monetary system. In the movie “First Contact”, Jean-Luc Picard says, “The economics of the future is somewhat different. You see, money doesn’t exist in the 24th century. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity.” I believe that this is a great concept, that could accelerate our world towards the future, if everyone signed on. I don’t have the answers on how to make the transition/ascension from our monetary system, but I think it would be a great global conversation… if its even comprehensible in the 21st century. =/

Music I Don’t Like

I have to get ragey about any kind of music I don’t like. It’s not enough to not prefer it, not dig it, or just say it’s not my thing. I have to get mad about it. I have to start petitions to deport Justin Bieber. This is my life calling.

Expectations

It seems a lifetime ago. And maybe another world.

I was a young teacher helping out with a big staff development day. Buzzing around, checking to make sure everything was in place, I made my way to the kitchen to find more napkins.

In walked a black woman dressed in a simple mumu-like dress with flat sandals. “I don’t know why they directed me to the kitchen,” she said. “You’re Jackie Torrance, aren’t you? I asked. And I whisked her off to the conference room to prepare for her storytelling session.

I don’t think anyone expected that our speaker would not be dressed up as they expected befitting of someone of such import. Perhaps they did not expect her to be black.

I just know that she spun her stories so tightly that we were caught up in the magic of her voice.

You,

You do not matter at all.
I do not even know you.
You might think that I write this for you, you are wrong.
The fun is for me.
Would I write this if you were not there to read this?
Why should you read this?
I do not write anything, so stop it.
