I was standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona, a town that I had never been to, cursing my bad luck. I was just passing through on my way to visit family when my car broke down 30 minutes out from their place. I had to leave my car and walk into town to find some help, since of course my phone was dead.
It’s quiet because it’s just after 6:30 in the morning – I wanted to get an early start on the drive so I left at the crack of dawn. Unfortunately for me, no businesses are open yet. I manage to find a pay phone on the corner, but for the life of me I can’t remember anyone’s phone number to call. The only thing that’s going through my mind is that song about taking it easy and standing on the corner of Winslow, Arizona. Taking it easy is the last thing I can do in a situation like this. I don’t have many options at this point, so what the heck – I’ll “take it easy” on this bench until I can find someone to help me.
I sit down to wait, closing my eyes. A few minutes later, my cousin’s phone number pops back into my memory. I’m saved!
